Pre requisites:

Trainees must be able to write, read and speak English at a basic level.

Unit Descriptor:

These units deal with the skills and knowledge required for the Extrusion welding of PE & PP under industrial conditions, both in the field and the workshop. Also training to equip you with the skills and knowledge required to weld plastic materials to specifications using manual techniques and hand held equipment.

Course Objective:

Provide trainees with the skills needed to perform:

  • Consistent quality extrusion welding of (PE) plastics components in accordance with German Standards DVS2207 using AS4219, AS4130 and AS 4131 compliant materials.

 Appropriate For:

People working in the maintenance and installation of plastic material, pipelines and components, and general industrial plastic fabrication.

Course Outcomes:

Upon the successful completion of the course, trainees will be able to:

  • Prepare joints
  • Perform welding
  • Assess quality of welding
  • Prepare joints to be welded in  accordance with DVS 2207 part 3 for PP and HDPE
  • Weld joints using Hot Air Welding – speed weld method
  • Dress welded joints, (where appropriate)

PMBWELD302B ELECTROFUSION POLYETHYLENE PIPELINES

 

Pre requisites:

Trainees must be able to write, read and speak English at a basic level.

 

Unit Descriptor: 301B

This competency covers the butt welding of polyethylene (PE) plastics pipes and pipeline components under industrial conditions both in the field and in factory conditions. This competency is performed by operators as part of a work team.

302B - This competency covers the electrofusion welding of polyethylene (PE) plastic pipes and pipeline components under industrial conditions both in the field and in factory conditions. This competency is performed by operators as part of a work team.

 

Course Objective:

Provide trainees with the skills needed to perform:

  • Butt welding of Polyethylene (PE) pipelines and piping components in accordance with the Australian Guidelines      POP03, AS4130 and AS4131 under industrial conditions both in the field and in factory conditions
  • Electrofusion welding of PE pipelines and fittings for pressure applications in accordance with Australian Guidelines POP001, AS4129, AS4130, AS4131 under industrial conditions both in the field and in factory conditions

 

Appropriate For:

People involved in the installation and maintenance of pipelines transmitting gas and liquids and technicians and personnel involved in dewatering.
