Welding Industry Standards Classification

WISC - Welding Industry Standards Classification

The WISC program is a joint venture between XLT Industrial Training (XLT) and Industry Partners (IP) that was formed for a number of reasons:

  • · To increase the skill level and quantity of welders in the industry by making training more accessible to candidates. This is made possible by IP funding accredited welding training provided by XLT in a traineeship program.

  • · To ensure that welding trainees add value to the market by providing practical experience to complement their theoretical training before undertaking work as an accredited welder.

  • · To introduce an industry wide recognised classification system for welders and welding procedures. By providing an industry wide classification of welders, shortfalls in skills can be identified and rectified through the provision of further training.
