To be eligible to attend XLT underwater welding course, you must first be a Commercial Diver to a minimum level II. You can find dive training companies in Fremantle, The underwater Centre and a company in NSW called Descend Diving. Level II is approx. for two month’s full time and Level III is for three months. Prior to welding under the water, it is essential to achieve XLT skill Card Level I.

Once this is achieved then underwater welding course could take between 1-3 weeks.
However, to gain a welding test qualification, skill card 3 in the dry welding would be required, as underwater welding is quite difficult. Dry welding must commence prior to diving.
